The Democratic Alliance (DA) demands that the criminal justice system act with haste on the steps taken by President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Acting Ministers in response to the interim report of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

Any move to act on the findings of this commission is long overdue, as South Africans tire of endless commissions that result in explosive findings but zero prosecutions.

South Africans have seen too many commissions come and go from Seriti to Zondo, with damning findings, but little accountability. We cannot allow the Madlanga Commission to become yet another expensive exercise that produces reports without consequences.

The DA calls for swift, transparent investigations and urgent prosecutions where evidence of criminal conduct exists. Justice delayed is justice denied, and every further delay entrenches the perception that those connected to power are shielded from accountability.

Corruption has hollowed out state institutions, robbed communities of basic services, and undermined trust in government. Rooting it out requires more than statements and selective action, it requires decisive enforcement of the law, without fear or favour.

South Africans deserve justice, not excuses. The DA will continue to hold the President and cabinet ministers in the justice cluster accountable to ensure that the findings of the Madlanga Commission lead to real consequences, real prosecutions, and real reform.
